The teaching of L2/SL and FL in an intercultural key helps learners to increase their level of awareness.

Intercultural education helps learners to understand and accept as equal classmates coming from different cultures and speaking different languages, with other points of view, values, and behaviors. ("I understand things in my way and I realize that my classmates understand things in their own way").

Individuals faced with diversity, psychic and physic dislocations, after a “culture shock” period will act to enrich their knowledge, to become more sensitive to the new socio-cultural environment, and to adapt their “Self” to the new reality.

At the very beginning stage, culture shock is not simple at all.

A different culture, a different language, a different system of communication.

How do these individuals act in these specific circumstances? How do they react to and elaborate these new experiences?

Time, place and context play an important role in coping with change.
